Craft & Vintage Market
August 17 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Four years ago, on the third Saturday in August, I hosted my first Craft & Vintage Market. At that time, Berwyn didn’t have any regular events of this type. Our community and neighboring communities were home to some amazing artists, makers and vintage dealers. Fast forward four years later and the JLH Craft & Vintage Market continues to be a monthly happening. Occurring every 3rd Saturday, during the months of February-Dec, at the Friendly Coffee Lounge in Berwyn, IL. Thanks to all of you who have shopped, supported and sold your work at the C&V Markets. I couldn’t do any of this with out all of you!
The August 17th, 4 year Anniversary Craft & Vintage Market is full of surprises. Berwyn is rich with makers and artists. The C&V is a way to showcase and support that creativity. Lots of locally made goodness to shop this Spring. You will not want to miss it!
The pop-up shops for August 17th are as follows:
*Folkgoblin Tintype Photography
~Offering 1850’s tintype portraits to the public, also known as ferrotypes or melainotypes. These photos are one of the earliest forms of photography in history. This process consist of a very large amount of lighting and for the portraits the sitter/subject/person needs to be able to sit still for several seconds. I will need 20 min of time with the customer for the shoot and the plate will be available for them to take home with them by the end of the event. Josh will also have tintype artwork available for purchase.
~We are an Intersectional lifestyle brand for feminists in desperate need of a hideaway from the patriarchy. All accessories and apparel are designed and hand crafted by women, which means every purchase supports multiple woman owned businesses and gets up one step closer to bridging the wage gap.
*Wild & Free & Black Forest Bakery
~A collective of women who were searching for a way to bring back to the community while working with raw, natural and organic materials. This allows us to appease that inner need and drive to create, and an opportunity to do so with ethically sourced and homegrown materials. Each member of our tribe brings something unique and original to the table including; jewelry, bath & body products, baked goods and home decor.
~Alex Birghbill creates paintings and art boxes that are inspired by the Lupitalandia Dolls from Mexico. “Lupita dolls are traditional papier-mâché dolls made in Mexico, beloved by children and collectors alike. The dolls are very simple, rough, even fragile, but they all show their own personality. I also create collaged wooden boxes and paintings with imagery of iconic Mexican art such as Frida Kahlo and vintage bingo games (“Lotería”).”
*Charlie & Grace
A children’s consignment boutique that sells brand name and boutique clothing, shoes, outerwear, accessories and books. Custom pieces and upcycles will be some of the great finds we will have at the market! We will also be accepting a limited number of items from new and existing consignors at this market! More information will be posted on our Facebook page.
~ Pottery & ceramics that explore the aesthetic balance of form & function. Belen creates utilitarian, everyday pieces that bring comfort & beautiful into any home. Her work experiments with new techniques, commercially manufactured stoneware, porcelain clay, colored clay and slips.
*Megan Lee Designs
~A Berwyn favorite and C&V regular, is returning this month! Offering screen-printed t-shirts, totes, mugs & onsies, MLD has fashions for all your friends and family. Megan’s designs and phrases are both whimsical & unique. Most recognizable for her State of Mind T’s, MLD clothing makes the perfect gift for all ages. Dont forget to buy your Berwyn Love t-shirt, featuring the infamous Berwyn Car Spike.
*Jessy Laubis Handmade
~ One of a kind pillows, heirloom dolls and soft sculptures. Each piece is created from upcycled and hand painted fabrics. The manipulated fabrics are collaged and both machines and hand sewn together. The end result is a unique piece art that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.
*As always, this is a free, family-friendly event. Bring a friend, grab a coffee (or Bloody Mary) & enjoy your neighborhood market!
